St. Helens, Ore. - The community is invited to attend a St. Helens Public Library Makerspace Open House on Thursday, October 24, 2024, from 4 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. The Makerspace is in the Columbia Center at 375 S. 18th Street, St. Helens.
The St. Helens Public Library Makerspace is a place for the community to learn, make, and collaborate. It offers free access to innovative technology, equipment, and software that supports creative pursuits in an environment that emphasizes experimenting and learningfor all ages.
The October 24 open house is a drop-in event. Attendees can meet the Library's new Youth and Makerspace Librarian Jana Wiersma and see what equipment is available in the Makerspace. Short craft activities will be available along with take-home crafts. Attendees will also have the chance to check out the new Makerspace schedule and find out about volunteer opportunities.
St. Helens Public Library Makerspace equipment includes a Glowforge Plus HD, 3D printer, Cricut Maker digital cutter, heat press, a sewing machine with embroidery attachment, computers and tablets with Adobe Creative Cloud software, circuitry equipment, DeWalt and Kobalt tool sets, numerous hand tools, equipment for podcasting, stop-motion animation supplies, microscopes, button makers, and much more.
Users do not need a library card to use the Makerspace.
