In a Joint Statement issued at the conclusion of the meeting between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and the Minister of Foreign Relations of the Republic of Chile, Alberto Van Klaveren Stork, both officials highlighted the economic potential of the two countries.
They thus committed to further consolidating their relations in the economic and commercial fields to elevate them to the level of a mutually beneficial multisectoral partnership, particularly by enhancing exchanges between private operators from both countries and the legal framework governing bilateral economic relations.
In this regard, the two ministers agreed to hold the second meeting of the Joint Commission on Trade and Investment during the first quarter of 2025.
Bourita and Van Klaveren Stork also emphasized the importance of combining efforts to address the new challenges related to environmental preservation, expressing the firm will of both countries to strengthen mutual cooperation in the areas of water management, agriculture, renewable energies, and green hydrogen.
Furthermore, the Chilean minister praised the large-scale reforms undertaken over the past two decades under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, as well as the continuous efforts for political, economic, and social development.
For his part, Bourita commended Chile's efforts in ocean protection, expressing Morocco's support for Chile's aspirations to host the Secretariat of the Agreement on the Conservation and Sustainable Use of Marine Biodiversity Beyond National Jurisdictions in the city of Valparaiso.
Regarding global food security, both officials expressed support for all initiatives aimed at addressing food insecurity, recalling the role that Morocco can play in this field as a producer of fertilizers and Chile as a globally recognized supplier of food products.
Aware of the challenges faced by their respective regions, Bourita and Van Klaveren Stork also discussed cooperation in the fields of security and the fight against organized and transnational crime, as well as the sharing of experiences in immigration and the fight against human trafficking.
Convinced of the decisive and supportive role of the populations of both countries in economic, social, and cultural interaction, both officials agreed to strengthen cooperation in the fields of education, training, research, and sustainable development, emphasizing the need to enhance cooperation in culture and literature, including organizing events to promote the cultural and tourism heritage of both countries.
The two countries also reaffirmed their commitment to promoting exchanges between university, academic, and scientific research institutions, in order to facilitate the exchange of teachers, researchers, and students.
