The Initial Press Release of Bulk Carrier “FU SHUN” sank and crew members died offshore Kaohsiung Port

On 25th July 2024, at about 0602 local time, a Tanzania flag bulk carrier "FU SHUN" (IMO No. 8510221) with a gross tonnage of 599 carrying 9 Myanmar crew members and 8 refrigerated containers onboard suffered listing and water ingress at 15.4 nautical miles offshore Kaohsiung port. Master announced to abandon ship. The occurrence resulted in the vessel sank, 2 crew members killed and 4 crew members missing.

The Taiwan Transportation Safety Board (TTSB) classified the event as a major marine occurrence per the Transportation Occurrence Investigation Act and referenced the Casualty Investigation Code of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The Investigator-In-Charge was assigned, and an investigation team was launched to conduct the investigation.
