Testing center at TSTC’s Brownwood campus receives national certification

(BROWNWOOD, Texas) - The testing center at Texas State Technical College's Brownwood campus recently received a national certification.

The National College Testing Association (NCTA) certified the Brownwood campus as an NCTA testing center. The criteria are based on NCTA professional standards and guidelines developed to guide postsecondary testing centers in the delivery of quality testing programs.

"This is very exciting for us," Raquel Mata, associate provost of the Brownwood campus, said. "Most people think we only offer the TSI (Texas Success Initiative) to our own students, but Kim Carroll (TSTC's testing coordinator) does a lot more than that. She can proctor exams for other institutions, along with offering a variety of the Texas Commission on Environment Quality and the Texas Commission on Fire Protection tests for our surrounding cities and communities."

NCTA officials congratulated Carroll for helping the college to earn the certification while maintaining high test administration standards and providing the service to a wide variety of students and community members.

"This is a great honor for me and the testing center at the Brownwood campus," Carroll said. "I look forward to assisting our students and the community with their testing needs."

NCTA is a nonprofit organization dedicated to the promotion of professionalism and high-quality service in the administration of testing programs, and it offers certification to college and university testing centers that demonstrate exemplary practices.
