Conemaugh Physician Group is pleased to welcome neurologist Mikki Sapkota, MD, to its neurology team at Conemaugh East Hills Outpatient Center. Dr. Sapkota brings a wealth of expertise in the diagnosis and treatment of complex neurological conditions, further enhancing Conemaugh's commitment to delivering high-quality, specialized care to the community.
Dr. Sapkota earned her medical degree with distinction from Kathmandu Medical College and Teaching Hospital in Nepal in 2016. After graduation, she gained valuable clinical experience in various roles, including as a clinical observer, intern, extern, and most recently, a resident.
Dr. Sapkota completed her neurology residency at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA, where she was actively involved in research and quality improvement projects and presented at the National Neurology Conference. During her residency, she received an educational grant from the American Committee for Treatment and Research in Multiple Sclerosis, underscoring her dedication to advancing neurological care.
Prior to her residency, Dr. Sapkota was awarded a scholarship to attend Harvard Medical School as a High Impact Cancer Research Scholar, enriching her medical knowledge and expertise.
Currently a member of the American Academy of Neurology and the American Medical Association, Dr. Sapkota specializes in treating migraines, seizures, multiple sclerosis, neuromuscular disorders, memory and cognitive issues, movement disorders, and stroke and vascular neurology.
