Analysis of Joma’s R line of running shoes: what what are their differences

The time has come! Runners who are still unaware of the differences between the models that make up Joma's R line will know what each one is recommended for.

With this analysis, we want all runners who trust us to reach their maximum performance to have a clearer idea of when to wear one or the other.

Joma's R line is composed of the R-1000, R-2000, R-3000, R-4000, and R-5000 sneakers, all equipped with cutting-edge technology, which is why they are positioned within the brand's high-end models. But Joma's top collection is not as recent as it seems, as you have to look back more than 10 years to know the origins of the first R: the R-4000, which was created as a versatile competition shoe for fast runners. Then came the R-5000, a much lighter evolution and the first racing shoe, until with the R-3000 we ventured into running shoes with a carbon plate, a differentiating element that marked a change in ""direction"". From there, the rest of the subsequent models have been arriving until we have a line as complete as the one we present for the Fall-Winter 24 season.

That being said, it is time to know thecomparison of the R line so that every runner reading this can choose theirs.

Are you looking for sneakers for interval training?

The best model in this case is the R-4000, super lightweight and offering good ground contact. It is the lightest in the entire line, weighing only 177 grams, which helps reduce effort and facilitates quick and agile movements during speed intervals.

Additionally, it has a secure fit, neutral support, and the STABILIS midfoot system prevents twists when making sudden changes in direction or pace.

On the other hand, its moderate 6mm drop allows for a balance between speed and tendon protection, even if it means sacrificing cushioning.

Which can you choose for daily training?

Sneakers for daily training should stand out for their versatility, and that is precisely what sets the R-2000 apart. Suitable for various distances and paces, they work perfectly for both light runs and long sessions. They offer high levels of comfort thanks to their wider toe box, as well as the FLY REACTIVE technology in the rear, which cushions impacts while providing good energy return.

Similarly, the midsole design with a 10mm drop provides a smooth transition, resulting in less effort.

And for competition?

The two star models for competition like the R-5000 and the R-3000, both with CARBON PLATE carbon fiber plate and a 6 mm drop. Although at first glance they may seem similar, the truth is that there is an essential aspect that makes the difference: the weight. For example, the R-5000, weighing 247 grams, is lighter than the R-3000, which goes up to 260 grams. This means they are recommended for different distances: while the R-5000 is perfect for reaching high speeds in short distance competitions without feeling limited by the weight, the R-3000 covers medium and long distances. The latter have more cushioning, something essential to withstand the fatigue caused by longer distances.

In both cases, it is proven by our professional athletes that the carbon plate increases efficiency in running and energy savings to maximize performance.

What model do I choose if I do tempo run?

Tempo run is practiced by those athletes who want to improve their anaerobic endurance and the ability to maintain a high pace for a prolonged period of time. The goal here is to use shoes that maximize stride efficiency while helping to meet these demands without compromising comfort. The R-1000 model fits into this type of footwear, as its carbon plate is less "aggressive", more flexible, and of lower density. In other words, it provides excellent energy return without sacrificing the comfort so necessary in this case.

Additionally, it features a midsole made entirely of FLY REACTIVE, a lightweight material that absorbs impacts, protects, and returns energy with each stride. Its 7mm drop is ideal for tempo runs, as it helps with an efficient transition from heel to toe.

Having said all that, now it's your turn. You have all the instructions in your hand to choose the R that best suits your requirements and use. Follow our recommendations and make your choice!
