NOPD Investigating Homicide Incident in Eighth District

The NOPD is investigating a homicide incident that occurred today (November 21, 2024) in the 700 block of Iberville Street that left one male victim dead and three additional victims injured by gunfire.

At about 12:21 p.m., NOPD Eighth District officers responded to a call of a shooting at the intersection of Iberville and Royal streets. Upon arrival, officers located four victims - three male victims and one female victim - having sustained gunshot wounds. EMS transported all victims to a local hospital, where one of the male victims was later declared deceased.

A person of interest has been detained for further questioning in this investigation.

Based on preliminary investigation, detectives believed this was a targeted incident and not a random shooting. Detectives are investigating all available leads with the assistance of the NOPD's Violent Crime Abatement and Investigative Team as well as with our law enforcement partners with Louisiana State Police's Troop NOLA.

This investigation is in its early stages and remains ongoing. Detectives are working diligently to gather information and identify those responsible for these incidents as well as a motive.

The Orleans Parish Coroner's Office will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death and to officially identify the deceased victim. Announcement of this information will come from the Coroner's Office.
