Nashville Man Back In Custody For Second Time In September

A Nashville man who was arrested September 14th on several charges after he was found driving a stolen car in Antioch is back in custody today after he fled from TITANS (The Investigative Team Addressing Neighborhood Shootings) Unit detectives last night in North Nashville with a stolen gun and marijuana in his backpack.

Cedric Watkins, 22, was inside a Ford Explorer Monday night when it fled from a traffic stop in North Nashville before he and the two other occupants ran from an alleyway between 32nd and 33rd Avenue North. Watkins threw a backpack prior to his arrest. Detectives recovered marijuana and a stolen handgun inside the backpack. The other two occupants of the Explorer were not located.

Watkins was already out on $91,000 bond from his arrest earlier this month when he was found driving a stolen Dodge Ram on Nolensville Pike. The pickup truck had been reported stolen out of Murfreesboro on September 4th. Watkins fled from that traffic stop by Vehicle Crimes detectives. The Ram ultimately lost control on Barnes Road, left the roadway and struck a Piedmont Natural Gas line, ripping it out of the ground causing gas to spew into the air. Watkins was arrested and charged with theft, evading arrest, reckless endangerment, and vandalism among other charges for that incident.

He is now jailed in lieu of $75,000 bond for charges of felony weapon possession, drug possession, theft of a firearm and evading arrest.
