CLOSURE of MO 291 from Truman Rd. to U.S. 24 will begin at approximately 5 p.m. today, June 27.

JACKSON COUNTY - Crews will CLOSEMO 291 from Truman Rd. toU.S. 24 in Independence, MO beginning at approximately 5 p.m. on THURSDAY, June 27 - ONGOING.

This closure is in place as a precaution as crews evaluate a newly formed crack that has developed in the mine under MO 291. This closure will be ongoing until further notice. More details will be shared on the duration of the closure once they become available.

The intersection MO 291 and E. Salisbury Rd. will remain open to local access traffic. Motorists traveling on NB MO 291 will be able to exit on Truman Rd. and motorists traveling on SB MO 291 will be able to exit on U.S. 24. Motorists will need to find an alternate route around the closure. There will be no signed detour.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
