Washington, DC - Today, U.S. Senator Joe Manchin (I-WV), member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, announced $562,803 from the National Science Foundation (NSF) for two West Virginia University research projects. The funding will support research into expanding access to science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) fields for students from diverse backgrounds and increasing preparedness for natural disasters.
"I'm pleased NSF is investing more than $562K into these two essential initiatives at West Virginia University," said Senator Manchin. "These awards will support research into promoting equality for all students entering STEM fields and developing innovative methods to prepare for natural disasters. As a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, I will continue advocating for resources that advance academic research and support our communities across the Mountain State."
