Trinity County Winter Storm Update

Prolonged Atmospheric River Event Expected Through Sunday

Weaverville, CA (November 21, 2024) - The Trinity County Office of Emergency Services (OES) is monitoring the current winter storm hitting the region. We anticipate more rain and wind throughout the rest of the week with up to 8" of rain by end of day Sunday and heavy snow in higher elevations.

Winter Storm Impacts Include:

• Snow impacts most likely above 4,000 feet with 1 to 2.5 feet in Trinity County.
• Snow possible as low as 3,000 feet in Trinity tonight with light but very wet snow.
• Dangerous travel to impossible travel conditions on high passes.
• High and damaging winds.
• Downed trees and debris on roads.
• Power outages.
• Flooding of small streams, low-lying and poorly drained areas - Thursday will be of greatest concerns between Humboldt Bay and Willits. Sandbags are available for Trinity County residents in Weaverville, Hayfork, and Salyer at the fire stations if needed.

Trinity County OES recommends these tips to stay safe:

• Prepare for power outages.
• Avoid travel if you can. If you must travel, slow down!
• Stay away from trees during the highest winds.
• Don't drive through flooded roads.
