NV Energy seeks community, business nominations for Community Based Solar Resource program

CBSR host sites produce solar energy for low-income and other customers participating in NV Energy's Expanded Solar Access Program

Jul 1, 2024 10:26 AM

NV Energy's nomination period for Community Based Solar Resource applications is now open and the company is encouraging businesses, nonprofits, government agencies and other organizations to consider applying.

As part of the program, NV Energy will construct and cover the costs of a new solar installation on site. The energy generated as these sites feed into the Expanded Solar Access Program at NV Energy, which helps bring solar energy to customers who may not otherwise be able to access this resource.

Community Based Solar Resource sites could be located anywhere in NV Energy's northern and southern service territories. Potential CBSR sites include schools, restaurants, office buildings, etc. NV Energy offers nominal compensation options or covered parking for hosting a CBSR site.

Organizations that host a CBSR site will contribute to increasing renewable energy generation in the state. Participating as a host site will make solar power more accessible to other community members and generate renewable energy for hundreds of homes, while providing a powerful visual reminder of the role solar energy plays in NV Energy's system.

Nomination forms are available at nvenergy.com/cbsr or may be requested via mail by calling 702-867-7200 (south) or 775-399-7201 (north). The nomination period closes on September 30, 2024. NV Energy will invite customers to vote for their favorite site in October and November 2024. Selected sites will be announced in November 2024.
