The City of Frederick Launches Historic Study on Sites Linked to Slavery

The City of Frederick plans to research and compile a historic context study identifying sites associated with slavery. The goal of this project is to help close the gap in scholarship related to the history, heritage, and culture of African Americans and the institution of slavery in Frederick. Public input is needed to make this project a success.

Please consider attending our outreach event on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, from 6:00 p.m. -7:30 p.m. The event will be held at 140 W Patrick Street (City Annex Building, main meeting room). Attendees will hear from our cultural resource specialists, EHT Traceries, about early research efforts. The public will be invited to provide input and suggest areas for further investigation.
