Community shares vision for arts and culture in Bellevue

Published October 15 2024

More than 60 arts enthusiasts provided input on Bellevue's arts and culture ecosystem during an Oct. 9 arts and culture listening session. During the event, participants received an overview of current arts efforts in Bellevue and learned about the Bellevue Arts Museum's receivership process, which was announced by the museum in September as a way to pursue financial stability.

After the presentations, participants broke out into table discussions and shared their thoughts on the future of arts and culture in Bellevue by answering available online until Thursday, Oct. 31. A recording of the presentations is available as well.

Common themes highlighted during the listening session included a desire for more art galleries and interactive arts experiences, as well as an emphasis on opportunities that engage youth and attract broad audiences by breaking down access barriers.

Feedback from this event, combined with results from the online survey and past community engagement efforts about the arts, will be used by the city and Arts Commission to inform future support for the arts. Feedback may also be used to provide input into the city's available actions during the receivership process.
