In a commendable initiative aimed at improving community safety, a team from Grindrod Logistics Africa recently visited Sidvokodvo Railway Primary School and Gundvwini Primary School in eSwatini. With the rising importance of road safety in mind, the team focused on educating young learners about the hazards of walking near busy roads particularly during their daily commutes to and from school.
The visit was part of a broader campaign to raise awareness and foster an understanding of pedestrian safety among the students. Given that many learners walk alongside roads trafficked by our trucks, the program emphasized practical safety measures they can adopt to protect themselves. Working alongside the local Induna, the team discussed various strategies for safe road crossing, the importance of being visible, and understanding traffic signs.
In addition to safety education, Grindrod took steps to enhance the environment for students by installing 12 branded dustbins at several local schools. These include Damaseko Primary School, Nhlambeni Community High School, Nhlambeni Nazarene, Masundvwini Primary, Gundvwini Primary, and Sidvokodvo Railway Primary. By providing these dustbins, the initiative aims to encourage proper waste disposal, contributing to a cleaner and healthier community for learners.
Continued collaboration with local leaders and educators will ensure these messages remain impactful and that our commitment to community safety endures.
