Highland Winter Road Conditions Report – Tuesday 19 November 2024

The information provided is a summary of reports from operational staff and is intended to give a general indication of typical conditions in each area at a point in time. It is not intended to imply that any individual route is entirely snow and ice free and drivers must be aware that conditions can change rapidly and make their own assessment of conditions for travelling.

There is a Met Office yellow weather warning for snow and ice in place until 10am tomorrow -a chance of disruption and difficult travel conditions due to snow and ice.

Highland Road Conditions Report for Tuesday, 19 November 2024 are as follows:

Skye and Raasay (08:52) - Cold morning with icy patches. Light Dusting of Snow in North Skye. Treatment ongoing to Primary & Secondary Routes.

Lochaber (08:36) - Low road surface temperatures across Lochaber, minus 2 to minus 6 on damp roads. All primary routes have been treated with secondary routes now starting.

Sutherland (08:27) - Low temperatures all over with accumulations of snow from 1" to 5" inland. All routes treated accordingly with treatment continuing throughout the morning. No known overnight issues.

Ross and Cromarty East (08:11) - Road surface temperatures and air temperatures below zero across the network. Mainly dry roads and condition generally good throughout. Treatment of other routes and footpaths on-going this morning. No overnight issues reported.

Caithness (07:53) - Up to an inch of snow on nearly all routes this morning and stretches of ice on secondary routes. All routes being treated as necessary. No other known issues to report.

Wester Ross, Strathpeffer and Lochalsh (07:36) - Very low air and road surface temperatures overnight across the Ward 5 network. All roads are passable with caution. There are no reported overnight issues. All treatments are on-going.

Badenoch and Strathspey (06:33) - Negative temperatures throughout the area. All routes being treated this morning due to ice and frost. No known overnight issues.

Nairn: (06:32) - Negative temperatures throughout the area. All routes being treated this morning due to ice and frost. No known overnight issues.

Inverness (05:36) - Low road surface temperatures but roads mainly dry. covering all primary and secondary routes, No issues overnight.
