Sumter County Board of County Commissioners Prepare to Declare a Local Declaration of Emergency

The Sumter County Board of County Commissioners will convene a special meeting on October 7, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. at The Villages Sumter County Service Center, 7375 Powell Road, Wildwood, FL 34785 to declare a Local State of Emergency in anticipation of Hurricane Milton.

As Hurricane Milton approaches Florida, peak wind speeds may decrease slightly, but the tropical storm-force wind field is expected to expand. Significant wind and water impacts are projected for Sumter County, with hurricane-force winds forecasted to arrive Wednesday.
