September 16, 2024

DSU faculty Dr. Renae Spohn and Julie Wulf Plimpton shared about health informatics and information management topics at the virtual CAHIIM (Commission on Accreditation for Health Informatics & Information Management Education) 2024: Summit on Higher Education.

The summit featured over 60 presentations on recruitment, artificial intelligence, digital health, innovative teaching techniques and strategies, and much more.

Wulf Plimpton discussed interactive learning methods and activities for introducing middle and high school students to health informatics and information management during her presentation of Activity4U: A Story of Academic Program Collaboration Package Recruitment Activity. She partnered with Clark College in Vancouver, Washington, for the project.

The goal of Wulf Plimpton's presentation was to demonstrate engaging activities for middle and high school students to participate in field exposure at camps, to showcase diverse aspects of the HIIM field, and build students' interest in it.

Spohn shared a presentation about recruiting Gen Z, telling the story of collaboration between a HIM program director, career and technical education providers, State Department of Education leaders, and Health Occupations Students of America leaders to create a pipeline for recruiting future HIM students.
