Syracuse man charged with Grand Larceny

On October 22, 2024, New York State Police at Ithaca arrested Ross Haley, age 28 of Syracuse, NY for the class "E" felony of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree.

An investigation revealed that in 2022, Haley engaged in a conversation with a victim unknown to him by text. During the conversation, the victim believed that he received sexually explicit photos of an adult. Haley then told the victim that the photos were of a nude teenager and in order to avoid getting the police involved, the victim would have to send Haley money. The victim ultimately paid Haley $1,300 by Venmo.

Haley was processed at SP Ithaca then transported to the Tompkins County Correctional Facility for Centralized Arraignment.
