Group of National Companies for the Mining Industry, an initiative to internationalize supplying Argentine companies

On Wednesday, 2nd of October, the Group of National Companies for the Mining Industry (GAEM, in Spanish) was introduced at the San Martín Palace. This group was created at the initiative of Argentina's Ministry of Foreign Affairs to promote the internationalization of companies that supply goods and services to the mining industry.

The meeting was chaired by the Undersecretary for Export Promotion, Investment, Education, Science and Culture of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ramiro Velloso, and was attended by authorities from the provinces of Catamarca, Mendoza, San Juan, Santa Cruz, Tierra del Fuego and Tucumán, as well as the National Director of the Value Chain and Mining Infrastructure of the National Mining Secretariat, Fernando Ciacera.

During the event, the companies participating in the GAEM presented their exportable offer and the provincial representatives informed about the policies implemented and the mining projects both planned and in execution.

The GAEM is a group that currently consists of 25 companies that supply goods and services to the mining sector. It is open to the participation of other companies in the sector, through a public-private collaboration scheme that responds to the new favorable investment climate. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through the creation of GAEM, encourages these companies to become suppliers to mining companies that have ventures abroad, thus integrating global supply chains in the mining sector.
