Schakowsky Applauds FTC, Illinois AG Action to Protect Diners, Workers, and Small Businesses

December 17, 2024

WASHINGTON - Today, U.S. Representative Jan Schakowsky (IL-09) released the following statement applauding the FTC and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul for taking action against Grubhub for harming diners, workers, and small businesses:

"Consumers, workers, and small businesses alike are tired of being deceived. Food delivery apps promised more choice for consumers, flexibility and good pay for drivers, and access to customers for restaurants. Instead, they are being deceived and defrauded by middlemen in the name of growth and profit. Today, the Federal Trade Commission, under Chair Lina Khan, and Illinois Attorney General Kwame Raoul took action to reign in these unfair practices. Grubhub will now have to return nearly $25 million to those they harmed, sending a clear message that these deceptive practices must end in Illinois and across the country."
