Solidifying Cybersecurity Cooperation in the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership

Ahead of President Joseph R. Biden's meeting with Vietnam General Secretary and President To Lam during the 79^th Session of the United Nations General Assembly High-Level Week, the U.S. Department of State is proud to highlight new progress on opportunities for cooperation under the U.S.-Vietnam Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP).

Recently, Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology Anne Neuberger and Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang affirmed our nations' shared intention to strengthen the CSP in the fields of cybersecurity and emerging technologies based on commitments to mutual assistance and cooperation. Recognizing the shared strategic interests in these fields, the United States and Vietnam will endeavor to cooperate on a range of technical, policy, and capacity building activities to achieve common national security and economic objectives.

The two sides jointly committed to continue driving progress through existing mechanisms such as the CSP Cyber Security Working Group, the CSP Economic Dialogue, the Law Enforcement and Security Dialogue, and the Counter Ransomware Initiative. With the ultimate goals of strengthening critical infrastructure network resilience and building a digital economy for the future, the enhanced cybersecurity partnership will seek to unlock new levels of bilateral collaboration and more broadly promote network security and digital growth across the region.
