Trash receptacles in City parks are not for household garbage

Published on September 27, 2024

Parks trash cans and barrels are designated specifically for waste generated in the park, such as picnic refuse and pet waste. Placing household garbage in these receptacles is not permitted.

Why this matters: Using parks trash cans for household garbage limits the ability of park staff to focus on essential tasks that ensure City parks remain safe, enjoyable and accessible for all visitors.

When you follow these guidelines, you help maintain a clean environment and enable staff to devote time to important responsibilities such as improving park facilities, organizing community events and addressing maintenance issues that enhance the overall park experience.

If you have smelly trash, consider placing it in a zippered bag and storing it in the freezer until your regular trash day.

Your cooperation helps ensure parks remain welcoming and enjoyable for all.
