Dollar General, the Dollar General Literacy Foundation (DGLF), Unilever USA and Hellmann's recently partnered to host two "On Track to Read" events with NASCAR Hall of Fame driver and children's book author, Dale Earnhardt Jr.,and NASCAR Xfinity Series driver Justin Allgaier to enhance literacy and education programs in Charlotte, North Carolina and Nashville, Tennessee.
Allenbrook Elementary School in Charlotte, North Carolina
In September 2024, Dollar General, DGLF and Unilever USA partnered with Earnhardt Jr. to give back to students and teachers of Allenbrook Elemenatry School in Charlotte, North Carolina. The event included a surprise donation from Dollar General's Reading Revolution program, a new book and backpack each to approximately 280 PreK-5 students, as well as DG gift cards for all teachers and staff for supplies and materials.
Additionally, students also enjoyed a special book reading from Earnhardt Jr. who read his most recent children's book, BUSTER GETS BACK ON TRACK.
"It's always special to be able to work with Unilever and The Dollar General Literacy Foundation," said Earnhardt Jr. "I'm thankful to have the opportunity to help give back and be a part of the Reading Revolution program."
East Nashville Hope Exchange in Nashville, Tennessee
In June 2024, the DGLF and Hellmann's partnered with Justin Allgaierto support the summer literacy program at non-profit organization, East Nashville Hope Exchangein Nashville, Tennessee.
Donations included a surprise literacy grant from the DGLF and Hellmann's, backpacks filled with school supplies to approximately 80 K-5 students, as well as DG gift cards for all teachers and staff for supplies and materials. Students and teachers also enjoyed a book reading from Allgaier and a special showing of Allgaier's No. 7 Dollar General Literacy Foundation / Hellmann's Chevrolet from JR Motorsports, a special vehicle wrap for the Nashville Superspeedway Ally 400 on June 29, 2024.

DGLF and Unilever USA have a longtime partnership with Earnhardt Jr. and Allgaierfocused on helping increase access to quality education through supporting, funding and advocating for teachers and students across the country. The partnership most recently generated the Story Timeonline video series to promote the DGLF's The Yellow Glasses Project. The organizations hosted the first "On Track to Read" event in October 2023with Earnhardt Jr. to benefit Wilkes County Schools in Wilkesboro, North Carolina.
