LOS ANGELES - Today, Metrolink's highly anticipated Holiday Express Trainreturned for the season, launching a series of magical holiday experiences for families across Southern California. Opening weekend took place at Metrolink's Anaheim Station with hundreds of families in attendance.
"The Holiday Express Train has become a cherished tradition, creating unforgettable memories for Southern Californians of all ages," Metrolink Board Vice-Chair and Orange County Fourth District Supervisor Doug Chaffee said. "The joy and sense of community it brings is a reminder of what the holidays are all about, and we're excited to create these special opportunities for friends and family to come together."
Both trains that operated today were sold out, as approximately 2,000 customers took advantage of the special service.
Holiday-themed decorations, carolers and beloved characters greeted passengers on board the train, bringing smiles and holiday cheer to all ages. Before boarding, attendees enjoyed a welcome event at the station with activities that included craft stations, balloon artists and live music. Many participated in the season of giving by bringing unwrapped toys to donate to families in need. Also, for the first time, limited-edition Metrolink "ugly" holiday sweaters were available for onsite purchase. The sweaters will continue to be available at upcoming events while supplies last.
There are four more stops on the 2024 Holiday Express Train schedule. Two unique roundtrips will operate from each location. The remaining dates and stations are:
Limited tickets are still available and cost $25 per person. Children under two years of age may ride for free on a parent's lap. Tickets must be purchased online in advance and will not be available on site.
