Hudson Celebrates NDAA Passage, Big Wins for Troops, Military Families

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Representative Richard Hudson (NC-09) released the following statement after the U.S. House of Representatives passed the Fiscal Year 2025 National Defense Authorization Act(FY 25 NDAA) with bipartisan support:

"As the representative of the largest military base in the world, I fought hard for a pay increase for our troops and more money for housing and quality of life investments for our servicemembers and their families,"said Rep. Hudson. "I am proud of the big wins we secured to give our military community the support they deserve."

Rep. Hudson fought for and secured several measures in the FY 2025 NDAA, including:

  • $47 million in military construction projects at Fort Bragg, including a SOF Arms Room Addition and SOF Operations Facilities;
  • Prevents the U.S. Army's proposed cuts to its SOF troops;
  • A 14.5% pay raise for junior enlisted servicemembers and a 4.5% raise for all other servicemembers;
  • $1.2 billion to renovate and build new barracks;
  • $569 million to build new family housing units;
  • $954 million for additional housing and facility maintenance accounts;
  • Provides servicemembers with direct access to specialty medial providers by waiving the TRICARE referral requirement;
  • Enables the Department of Defense to recruit and employ additional mental health providers;
  • Codifies the Military Spouses Career Accelerator which provides employment support for military spouses; and
  • Expands access to childcare for military spouses when they are seeking employment.
