Fatal Parkway Crash In Putnam Valley

On November 27, 2024, the New York State Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash at approximately 11:50 a.m. on the Taconic State Parkway in the town of Putnam Valley.

Initial investigation determined the operator of a 2017 Toyota Rav4, Michael Fitzgerald, age 58, of Fishkill, was traveling southbound just south of Route 301 and left the roadway for unknown reasons. The vehicle struck a rock embankment and became fully engulfed in flames. Mr. Fitzgerald was pronounced deceased on scene by responding Putnam Valley Fire Department and Empress EMS paramedics.
