MoDOT holds Route P and Koch Road intersection open-house style public meeting Tuesday, October 8

ST. CHARLES COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an informational open-house style public meeting about planned improvements to the Route P and Koch Road intersection on Tuesday, October 8 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.

The public meeting will be held at the O'Fallon City Hall multi-purpose room located at 100 Main Street, O'Fallon, MO 63366. No formal presentations will be made during the open house-style meeting. Attendees can stop by at any time during the meeting to view the project details and speak with representatives from MoDOT and the city of O'Fallon.

Traffic on Koch Road has grown to the point that the Route P and Koch Road intersection needs an improvement to provide safer, more efficient access in and out for motorists.

Currently, MoDOT plans to construct a roundabout at Koch Road. A recent MoDOT traffic study concludes that either a roundabout or traffic signal being needed for the intersection. Roundabouts have been proven to virtually eliminate right-angle "T-bone" crashes that historically lead to fatalities and severe injuries. Residents and the city of O'Fallon have encouraged MoDOT to reduce the speed limit on the eastern portion of this highway. A roundabout can help with slowing traffic, while still maintaining better access from the side street.

This meeting is accessible to individuals with disabilities. Masks are optional. To request other special accommodations, please call 1-866-ASK-MoDOT or email [email protected].

Those who are unable to attend the public meeting in person can view the displays on the project website October 8 at https://www.modot.org/route-p-intersection-improvements-st-charles
