Trevecca’s School Of Leadership & Interdisciplinary Studies Joins Prestigious Network

Trevecca Nazarene University's School of Leadership and Interdisciplinary Studies has accepted an invitation to join the prestigious Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED). CPED is an international network of more than 135 graduate schools of education and a leader in rethinking advanced educational preparation.

As a member of CPED, Trevecca will be able to share and learn from other member schools like Johns Hopkins University, Arizona State University and Drexel University - all recognized national leaders for their Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) programs. The goal will be to continue to provide the most advanced and best practices for Trevecca's Ed.D. programs.

"We are thrilled to be invited to join this highly regarded and elite network," said Kristin Bledsoe, dean of Trevecca's School of Leadership and Interdisciplinary Studies. "It is a wonderful opportunity to advance our Ed.D. program in a way that helps students better prepare for their careers and answer their calling."

In addition to this new recognition, Trevecca's Ed.D. program has experienced incredible growth and success over the past year. It achieved record enrollment for the 2023 fall semester and ranks first in Tennessee for Ed.D. conferrals. The program was named the nation's most affordable doctorate in education and the number three online doctorate in education overall by Fortune Education, and it was included in the Princeton Review's list of the nation's best online Doctor of Education programs.

New CPED members are selected through a rigorous application process and evaluated by a membership committee composed of leaders of current CPED members. The organization stimulates each institution member's work and provides space for sharing, learning and providing feedback in a national dialogue across faculty, students and administrators in Ed.D. programs.

The Carnegie Project on the Education Doctorate (CPED) is the knowledge forum on the Ed.D. with a membership of more than 135 colleges and schools of education, which have committed resources to work together to undertake a critical examination of the doctorate in education (EdD) through dialog, experimentation, critical feedback and evaluation. CPED's vision is to transform the Ed.D. by inspiring all schools of education to apply the CPED Framework to the preparation of educational leaders by becoming well-equipped scholarly practitioners who provide stewardship of the profession and meet the educational challenges of the 21st century.
