Fall Fest entertains with cartoons-inspired events

The Campus Activity Board (CAB) at Eastern Connecticut State University sponsored its annual Fall Fest from Sept. 23 to 29 with a week-long series of events following the theme "CABtoons."

"I always enjoy the traditional experience of Fall Fest, as it brings together students throughout campus," said Alyssa Duffy, associate director of Student Activities. "This year did not disappoint! From seeing students get excited about upcoming events, squirrels traveling through campus, taking photos together, swinging in the glow park or getting slimed - the energy and excitement spread throughout all attendees! I am so proud of the team for all of their hard work, and for the Special Events branch (of CAB) for putting together the week!"

Throughout the week, students engaged in a variety of events inspired by classic cartoons. During Promotion Days, they learned about upcoming activities, listened to theme songs, spun a prize wheel and met new people. During the charcuterie board "teaching kitchen" with Eastern Eats, participants created their own charcuterie boards and received a custom CAB-branded board to take home.

A themed dinner at Hurley Hall allowed students to use customizable persona cards, adding a fun and interactive element to the meal. At the Phineas and Ferb-themed event, attendees enjoyed DIY activities, "stuffed" a squirrel and took photos in a giant Adirondack chair. Thursday night featured BINGO with chances to win prizes, followed by pancakes at the Thursday Knight Café.

On Friday, CAB-at-Nite offered a glow park, wood-fired pizza truck, DJ Fire and s'mores. For those seeking more adventure, there was an off-campus trip to Six Flags. The week concluded on Sunday with the first-ever slime run, adding a colorful twist to the traditional color run format.

"It was so much fun to see Fall Fest come to life this year," said Taylor Thompson, special events coordinator with CAB. "I am so grateful to have been a part of hosting the first ever color run held on campus. Seeing the student's excitement for the race made all of the hard work worth it."
