Key benefits for Seasonal Communities:
The bill did not include the Local Option Real Estate Transfer Fee, a critical funding source for Nantucket, which we will continue to strongly advocate for to ensure sustainable funding for affordable housing initiatives.
"Nantucket has been a strong advocate for affordable housing legislation at the State House. Thank you to everyone who participated in advocacy days, wrote to their representatives, and shared their voices-your advocacy was essential. While the bill ultimately did not include the transfer fee, a critical need for our community, there are significant policy changes, including the seasonal community designation, that will aid Nantucket in our arduous battle for affordable housing. The Housing Office is dedicated to continued advocacy for a transfer fee in the future. We look forward to taking action on the new law and implementing these changes to better support our community." - Kristie Ferrantella, Town of Nantucket Housing Director |
