Kazakh and Tajik Ethnodesigners Exchanged Experience in Dushanbe

From 27 to 31 May, the city of Dushanbe hosted a training on ethno-design for artisans from Tajikistan. The training took place within the framework of the project "Silk Roads Heritage Corridors in Central Asia - International Dimension of the European Year of Cultural Heritage", implemented by the UNESCO Almaty Regional Officewith funding from the European Union.

The facilitators of the training were Aizhan Bekkulova, artist, fashion designer, chairperson of the Union of Artisans of Kazakhstan, expert and trainer in the field of handicrafts, honourable member and advisor of the World Crafts Council for Asia and the Pacific and Munira Akilova, designer, founder of the brand "MUNIR", expert, trainer in handicrafts, tourism and women's entrepreneurship.

The training provided 20 selected participants with knowledge in marketing, analysing market trends and requirements, developing brandbooks and collections.

On the first day of the training we had a brief interview with one of the facilitators.
