Gold Fields Migrates its SAP Environments to AWS

SEATTLE-August 29, 2024-Amazon Web Services, Inc. (AWS), an Amazon.com, Inc. company (NASDAQ: AMZN), today announced that Gold Fields, a global gold producer with operations across several continents, has migrated its SAP workloads, including its InforPM and Avantgard quantum estates, development, quality assurance and production, and treasury systems, to AWS as part of its digital transformation. This collaboration has enabled Gold Fields to modernize its technology infrastructure, applying AWS's analytics, machine learning (ML), and generative artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities to unlock valuable insights that will that will improve operational efficiency, enhance workplace safety, and become a more data-driven business.

Operating its SAP systems on AWS will enable Gold Fields to apply AWS technologies to its internal data to forecast precious metal demands and production, pricing, and supplies. In addition, Gold Fields will adopt AWS's Industrial Data Fabricto develop a data management system that will leverage its data to power predictive maintenance of its assets, implement computer vision capabilities for health and safety at its mine shafts to help ensure miners have their protective gear with them and are protected around heavy machinery, and apply natural language processing to automatically summarize documents.
