MDARD Director Boring Applauds Governor Whitmer’s FY25 Budget
LANSING, MI-Today, Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) Director Tim Boring celebrated the passing of Governor Gretchen Whitmer's fiscal year 2025 bipartisan budget, which provides vital funding for the department and bold investments for Michigan's growing food and agriculture industry.
"Under Governor Whitmer's leadership, this bipartisan budget reflects her unwavering commitment to Michigan's food and agricultural industry and our rural communities," said Director Boring."This bipartisan budget allows MDARD to move forward with our timely efforts on climate resiliency, environmental sustainability, and regenerative agriculture research. Also included is $3 million for a new 'Farm to Family Program' to support regenerative farming, bolster agriculture supply chains, and promote Michigan food products through a cooperative approach, generating direct economic impacts. We're working to ensure that 'Made in Michigan' is recognized around the globe. These bold investments highlight why Michigan has become, and will continue to be, a destination for food and agriculture businesses."The budget for fiscal year 2025 includes total ongoing funding of $157 million, of which $89 million comes from the state's general fund.
