The Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney hosted a special reception and screening of the film "Lahnmah"

On July 18, 2024, the Royal Thai Consulate-General in Sydney hosted a special reception and screening of the film "Lahnmah" or "How to Make Millions Before Grandma Dies" at Event Cinemas on George Street, Sydney. This event marked the premiere of the film in Australia and New Zealand. Over 170 guests from the New South Wales government, foreign Consulate-Generals in Sydney, including ASEAN countries, as well as members of the NSW film industry, the media, influencers, YouTubers, TikTokers, and Friends of Thailand participated in the event.

Mrs. Hataya Khusakul, Consul-General of Thailand, echoed that the screening of Thai films in Australia helped foster understanding and bridge cultural concepts and values between Thailand and Australia, both multicultural nations. She conveyed her anticipation for the growth of Thai films in the Australian market and hopes for further expansion of cooperation between Thailand and Australia in the film industry.

The film's elegant depiction of family values and gratitude deeply resonated with the audience, creating a widely serene and reflective atmosphere.

Some feedback of the audiences after watching the movie:

"A heartwarming movie, I can relate to the story as I have 86 years old mother, in a sense that love your mother unconditionally!" -- a member of SYD consular corps

"The movie is a highly relatable, heartwarming, and bittersweet story about family, love, and loss. Make sure to bring a box of tissues." -- a member of SYD consular corps

"I feel teary-eyed again when I think about it. It's a great film!" -- ASEAN friends of Thailand

"The movie was very good as it shows the realities of growing up displaying how parents and children will slowly stray further and further away from each other as they grow up. The bond between M and Mah in the movie is very relatable with audiences across the entire globe as many families will end up having the same experience in their lifetime."
