Foreign Minister Diana Mondino welcomed the new Ambassador of the Czech Republic in Argentina, Jarmila Povejšilová

Foreign Minister Diana Mondino met today with the new Ambassador of the Czech Republic in our country, Jarmila Povejšilová, with whom she held a conversation focused on the significance of strengthening bilateral relations and cooperation between the two countries.

Within this framework, the head of the San Martín Palace and the Czech diplomatic representative reviewed the achievements attained in 2024 -the year of the centennial of the establishment of bilateral diplomatic relations-, among which the visits of the Czech Foreign Minister, Jan Lipavsky, to Buenos Aires in April; and of the President of the Nation, Javier Milei, to Prague, in June, stood out.

The Minister underlined the relevance of these meetings, which have set the basis for a more intense cooperation in areas such as trade, defense, science and technology. She also expressed her expectation that the arrival of the new Ambassador will mark a milestone in the deepening of the dialogue between the two countries there.

Ambassador Povejšilová welcomed the economic reforms implemented by the Argentine Government to open up the economy and referred to the existing understanding between both countries on priority issues of the international agenda -such as the situations in Israel and Ukraine- and strategic issues for our country, such as the early conclusion of the MERCOSUR-European Union Agreement, the accession process to the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) and the Argentine willingness to join NATO's Global Partner Program.

To conclude, Ambassador Povejšilová expressed her enthusiasm for representing the Czech Republic in Argentina and her willingness to work together to promote common interests, and highlighted Argentina's cultural richness, the opportunities offered by both nations and pledged to explore new initiatives to foster mutual development and innovation.
