Taunton, MA - Mayor Shaunna O'Connell recently hosted a special Movie Matinee event, welcoming local seniors for an afternoon of entertainment and community at 2 Hamilton Street, the site of the former Coyle Cassidy school. The featured film, Queen Bees, captured hearts with its uplifting story about love, friendship, and second chances, leaving the audience both laughing and moved.
"We are committed to offering programs that bring our senior community together and foster meaningful connections," said Mayor O'Connell. "The Movie Matinee was a wonderful opportunity to enjoy some quality time with our seniors and express our appreciation for the contributions they make to our city."
Local senior Margaret Travis shared her gratitude, saying, "The Mayor truly knows how to make us feel special. Queen Bees was such a delightful movie, and the floats and popcorn made it even more enjoyable. It was a fantastic afternoon spent with the Mayor and friends, and I can't wait to attend the next one."
The Movie Matinee event is just one of the many initiatives the City of Taunton offers to promote wellness, engagement, and social connection among its senior residents. For many attendees, events like this provide more than entertainment-they create an opportunity to connect with friends and engage with City leadership in a relaxed and enjoyable setting.
