ORLEANS PARISH DROP-OFF LOCATION AVAILABLE FOR THANKSGIVING COOKING OIL DISPOSAL

The City of New Orleans Department of Sanitation, in partnership with the Office of Resilience & Sustainability, is encouraging Orleans Parish residents to dispose of their used cooking oil responsibly this holiday season. Improper disposal of cooking oil, such as pouring it down the drain, can cause significant damage to the City's sewer infrastructure, leading to costly repairs and environmental hazards.

Residents can drop off used cooking oil for recycling at the City's Recycling Drop-Off Center at 2829 Elysian Fields Ave.

Drop-off will be accepted on:

  • Saturday, Nov. 30
  • Saturday, Dec. 7

The Recycling Drop-Off Center will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on both days.

Residents are asked to bring their used cooking oil in a sealed container to the drop-off site.  Residents are allowed to dispose of five gallons of cooking oil per day and must present a valid identification card with an Orleans Parish address or an Orleans Parish brake tag on their vehicle.

Note: Businesses and organizations are not eligible for Recycling Drop-Off services.
