WHAT:
Cal State LA will confer bachelor's degrees to the third cohort of the Prison Graduation Initiative (PGI) at the California State Prison, Los Angeles County in Lancaster. A group of about 10 incarcerated students will earn their Bachelor of Arts in Communication.

WHY:
Cal State LA's PGI began in 2016 and is the first in-person bachelor's degree completion program for incarcerated students in California. It has served over 118 students, with 50 students receiving their Bachelor of Arts in Communication while incarcerated and 15 students transferring and completing their degree on the Cal State LA campus.
INFO:
Media must present government-issued photo I.D. (i.e., driver's license). Graduates and professors will be available for interview, as well as Honorable Deborah L. Sanchez from the Los Angeles Superior Court and Cal State LA President Berenecea Johnson Eanes.
Prohibited attire:
Clothing that resembles state-issued population clothing (blue denim, blue chambray), shorts, open-toed shoes, clothing that resembles law enforcement or military-type clothing, tight-fitting or revealing clothing.
