Brown Announces New Investments to Improve Water Infrastructure in Appalachian Ohio

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, U.S. Senator Sherrod Brown (D-OH) announced three new investments for communities in Appalachian Ohio to support sanitary sewer and drinking water infrastructure projects. The investments were awarded by the Appalachian Regional Commission.

"If we want to promote economic development throughout Ohio, we need to ensure that businesses and communities have the resources and infrastructure they need to ensure access to clean water," said Brown. "Investments like these help rural and small communities in Ohio create jobs and attract businesses to the area. I'll continue to fight for investments in the Appalachian Regional Commission so it can continue to empower our communities."

Communities receiving funding include:

  • $750,000 to the Village of Caldwell for a Water Systems Improvements Project that will ensure a safe and reliable water supply for 182 businesses, 1,106 households, and ten additional communities. This investment will be used to upgrade the raw water supply and water treatment plant, and install a second supply line from Wolf Lake.
  • $500,000 to the City of Coshocton for the Warsaw Waterline Extension that will provide a reliable source of water for the community at a lower cost and will create more opportunities for development along the waterline extension itself. This investment will be used to build 49,3000 feet of new line from Coshocton to Warsaw, install a booster station, and construct a new water storage tank.
  • $250,000 to the Perry County Commissioners for the Village of Crooksville Sanitary Sewer Extension that will prevent sewage backups that have been flowing onto Crooksville High School property. This investment will extend 2,250 linear feet of sewer line, replace the pumps and control panel, and install a portable generator at the lift station.
