Geisinger Gastroenterology/Endoscopy Montoursville receives national accreditation

MONTOURSVILLE, Pa. -
Geisinger Gastroenterology/Endoscopy - Montoursville was recently accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC) for demonstrating an ongoing commitment to high-quality care and patient safety. Becoming accredited means Geisinger Montoursville met nationally recognized standards for the provision of quality health care set by the AAAHC. More than 6,600 ambulatory health locations across the country have received this status. "This accreditation is a testament to the commitment and passion our team at Geisinger Endoscopy Montoursville has to our patients and community," said Amitpal Johal, M.D., Geisinger chair of gastroenterology. "I am proud to be a part of a team that is delivering best-in-class gastroenterology and endoscopy care." The clinic underwent an extensive self-assessment and an onsite survey by AAAHC surveyors, who are physicians, nurses and administrators actively involved in ambulatory care. The survey is peer-based and educational, presenting best practices to help improve care and services. Although the onsite survey is a key component of the process, Geisinger Montoursville also worked on ongoing compliance and continuous improvement and adopted policies and procedures that helped improve quality and focus on self-evaluation every day. The AAAHC is the leader in ambulatory health care accreditation. The organization advocates for the provision of high-quality health care through the development and adoption of nationally recognized standards. The AAAHC Certificate of Accreditation, along with specialized programs, demonstrates an organization's commitment to providing safe, high-quality services to its patients.
