Phnom Penh, 8 November 2024: ERIA President Tetsuya Watanabe met with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Moha Borvor Thipadei Hun Manet at the Peace Palace in Phnom Penh, Cambodia. The purpose of the visit was to discuss ERIA's proposal to support Cambodia in developing a framework aimed at diversifying and enhancing the competitiveness of the Cambodian economy. This framework envisions laying the groundwork for sustainable economic growth in Cambodia by fostering resilience, adaptability, and a competitive edge in the global market.
The Prime Minister welcomed ERIA's support, expressing appreciation for ERIA's advisory assistance and capacity building programmes, and encouraged continued engagement with Cambodian ministries on sectoral and priority initiatives.
'Cambodia is a rising star of the region and has a huge potential,' ERIA President Watanabe remarked, affirming ERIA's readiness to work closely with the Royal Government of Cambodia on priority programmes and to support the visions of Prime Minister Hun Manet's government. Both leaders also discussed the vital role of the private sector in economic development, the global economic outlook, and strategies to enhance resilience for Cambodia and the region in the face of evolving global challenges.
