Old Town Homicide Suspect Arrested in Michigan

Fort Collins, CO - After weeks of work by Fort Collins Police Services (FCPS) detectives, today we announce the arrest of Tylen Michael Grays in connection with the murder of Keiter Baez Morales and an injury of another victim in Old Town on August 11, 2024.

On August 11, 2024 after the call for service regarding a shooting in Old Town, FCPS officers and detectives immediately canvased the area for evidence and interviewed multiple witnesses to the incident. FCPS additionally issued a request for public assistance in identifying a suspect captured on video by a local business camera. Through the course of the investigation, detectives identified the suspect as Tylen Michael Grays (dob 4/10/1989) and determined he had fled to Michigan. This past Tuesday, September 10, 2024, detectives worked with the US Marshal's Office in Detroit, Michigan, and Grays was safely taken into custody without incident.

"It is important to note that the actions of a single individual have permanently altered the lives of several victims, their families and our community. We hope that this arrest is a small comfort to the family and friends of Mr. Baez Morales," said FCPS Chief Jeff Swoboda. "Grays brought violence to our community and after weeks of diligent work leading to his arrest we hope those affected feel as if this is a step toward a measure of justice."

Grays has been arrested on the following charges:

· Class 1 Felony - Murder in the First Degree (1 count)

· Class 2 Felony - Attempted Murder in the First Degree (1 count)

· Class 5 Felony - Menacing (4 counts)

· Class 3 Felony - Assault in the First Degree (1 count)

· Class 2 Misdemeanor -Reckless Endangerment (1 count)

· Class 6 Felony - Tampering with Physical Evidence (1 count)

· Class 1 Misdemeanor - Prohibited Use of a Weapon (1 count)

Grays will go through an extradition process to be brought back to Colorado. Further investigation is ongoing in order to ensure it is complete and thorough. There will be no additional information released at this time.
