City of Akron Offices Closed on Monday, November 11 In Observance Of Veterans Day

Akron, Ohio, November 6, 2024 - On Monday, November 11, 2024, all municipal offices will be closed in observance of Veterans Day. There will be no delay in trash/recycling curb service on Monday, November 11. Please see below for a few events and promotions happening this week to honor our Veterans.

  • Thursday, November 7 - Huntington Bank hosts the 2024 Northeast Ohio Flag Raising Ceremony. Ceremony will be at Cascade Plaza beginning at 9am.
  • Saturday, November 9 - The Ohio Erie Canalway Coalition hosts the Apex Skin Towpath Freedom 5K to honor Veterans. Event starts at 9am and will be held at Summit Lake. Register and learn more here.
  • Saturday, November 9 - Travel to Canton, Ohio to view the MAPS Air Museum Veterans Day celebration from 4:30-10pm. For more information or to purchase a ticket click here.
  • November 9-11 - Akron Zoo discounts: Any resident that wears red, white, and blue on November 9th or 10th will receive free admission for the day at the Akron Zoo. All Veterans receive free admission to the Akron Zoo with a valid military I.D. and immediate family members receive 50% off admission on November 11. Learn more here.
  • Tuesday, November 12 - Complimentary self-guided tour of Stan Hywet for all Veterans with a valid military I.D. from 10am to dusk. Learn more here.
