Hoeven Honors Members of 1-188th ADA Regiment, Bravo Battery at Welcome Home Ceremony

GRAND FORKS, N.D. - Senator John Hoeven thanked members of the North Dakota National Guard's (NDNG) 1-188^th Air Defense Artillery (ADA) Regiment, Bravo Battery after returning from a 10-month deployment to the U.S. Central Command (USCENTCOM) area of responsibility in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, which is the U.S. military's operational name for the international war against the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). While deployed, the battery provided integrated air defense coverage and early warning in support of a battalion task force.

"The Battery's deployment to USCENTCOM helped keep our country and their fellow servicemembers safe for nearly a year," said Hoeven. "The National Guard represents the finest men and women in our country and the work they do each and every day to protect our nation, both in communities across our state and abroad, does not go unnoticed. We remain committed to supporting efforts that strengthen and support the National Guard, including policies that help ensure Guardsmen receive the benefits and recognition they've earned. It is an honor to welcome home these Guard members today and thank them for their service."

This was the 13^th deployment for the 1-188^th ADA since 2004, making it the most deployed unit in the North Dakota National Guard. Bravo Battery is led by Captain Nicholas Kindelspire and First Sergeant Michael Travis and was responsible for ensuring early warning, detection and defeat of enemy aerial systems and projectiles. During the deployment, Bravo Battery successfully defended against 57 separate attacks from 37 one-way unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and over 110 rockets.
