NYSP investigates crash involving pedestrian in Oneonta

UPDATE (2): On July 23, 2024, just after 5:00 a.m., New York State Police responded to State Highway 7 in Oneonta for a report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle.

A preliminary investigation indicates that a pedestrian was walking in the roadway and was struck by a vehicle.

The pedestrian is identified as Amber N. Joy, age 40 of Oneonta, NY.

The crash remains under investigation, the operator of the vehicle has been cooperative with Investigators.

The roadway was reopened just before 9:30 a.m.

UPDATE (1): NY 7 has reopened. More details will be released later.

Original Release: NY 7 is closed this morning between East End Avenue and CR 7 in Oneonta due to a crash. Please find alternate routes.

Westbound traffic is being diverted off CR 47 to Interstate 88 to NY 23 then back to NY 7.

Eastbound traffic is being diverted off NY 23 to Interstate 88 to CR 47 then back to NY 7.

Please use caution in the area as there are a lot of emergency personnel responding.
