REPORT: Mark Robinson's Comments "Run Afoul" of North Carolina's Newly Codified Definition of Antisemitism

New reporting from Jewish Insider underscores how Mark Robinson's many antisemitic posts and comments could violate a new law passed by the North Carolina legislature establishing a legal definition of antisemitism in the state.

Over the years, Robinson has faced intense scrutiny for his "past comments invoking anti-Jewish tropes and conspiracy theories, downplaying the Holocaust and quoting Adolf Hitler."

Robinson's record of antisemitism includes implying "the widely accepted figure of 6 million Jews killed by the Nazis is false" and promoting "conspiracy theories about Jewish control over finance and Hollywood." Robinson also"shared a quotation attributed to Adolf Hitler, compared the toppling of a Confederate statue to Kristallnacht and frequently minimized the legacy of the Holocaust."

Robinson's history of antisemitic rhetoric has put Jewish North Carolinians on "high alert" and earned broad condemnation from across the political spectrum. House Speaker Tim Moore refused to defend Robinson after the bill's passage, saying, "I would ask him about that."

Robinson has been asked explicitly if he would apologize for any of his previous antisemitic remarks and social media posts, and he refused, saying, "I apologize for the wording, not necessarily for the content.""Mark Robinson's dangerous history of antisemitism isn't just completely disqualifying for anyone seeking to serve as North Carolina's next governor: it also puts him on the wrong side of the law" said DGA National Press Secretary Devon Cruz.
