Route 21 Roy E. Furman Highway Improvements Resume Tuesday in Greene County

08/30/2024

Uniontown, PA - Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) District 12 is announcing that daytime, single-lane restrictions on Route 21 (Roy E. Furman Highway) are scheduled to resume Tuesday, September 3, between the Route 19/21 (Mount Morris Road/East High Street) intersection in Franklin Township and Route 2026 (Rolling Meadows Road) in Jefferson Township, Greene County.

One lane of traffic will be continuously open in each direction between Route 19/21 (Mount Morris Road/East High Street) and Interstate 79.

Alternating single-lane traffic may be controlled by flagging between I-79 and Route 2026 (Rolling Meadows Road).

Short term stoppages may be required to permit truck and equipment entry to and exit from the open lanes.

Crews from Gulisek Construction will be conducting new sign installation, traffic signal work, concrete pavement diamond grinding, and concrete pavement rehabilitation.

Restrictions are anticipated until mid- to late October. All work depends on weather and operations.

This work is part of the $4.9 million Route 21 East of Waynesburg concrete patching project. The full scope includes concrete patching, dowel retrofit, cross stitching, spall and mountable curb repair, milling and resurfacing, high friction surface treatment, inlet tops replacement, guide rail, signal upgrades, delineation, and signing. The full job - which will require long-term single-lane restrictions - is anticipated to continue through October 2024.

Exercise caution while approaching the work zone. Remain alert and follow the posted signs and speed limits. Safety is everyone's responsibility.
