Rutledge, Ga.-The Georgia Department of Transportation (Georgia DOT) announces a Public Detour Open House (PDOH) comment period now open for a proposed three-month detour for the ongoing I-20 at Old Mill Road Interchange project (P.I. 0018361). Comments will be accepted until Nov. 29.

Georgia DOT contractors recommend closing the Old Mill Road bridge over I-20 to construct a new bridge overpass that will accommodate an interchange configuration. Replacing the Old Mill Road bridge with an offsite detour would decrease the duration of construction from approximately 15 months to 11 months, weather permitting.

The proposed 5.2-mile signed detour would utilize US 278 (Atlanta Highway) and Newborn Road. Local traffic would be maintained, and residents retain open access to their homes and businesses.
