Motorola Solutions Foundation Awards $50,000 Grant to APCO International in Support of Professional Development Scholarships

Alexandria, VA - Motorola Solutions Foundation, the charitable arm of Motorola Solutions, has generously awarded a $50,000 grant to the APCO International to support the Commercial Partner Scholarship Program. This initiative aims to make scholarship funds readily available to emergency communications professionals for education, training and professional development programs offered through the APCO Institute to strengthen the skills and leadership qualities of 9-1-1 professionals nationwide.

The APCO Institute is the educational, training and certification division of APCO International. It is the largest provider of emergency communications training, offering industry professionals professional development opportunities to enhance the safety and security of first responders and the communities they serve. The Institute offers comprehensive training options, including live sessions, virtual classrooms and online courses.

Through the Foundation's generous support, the awarded funds will go toward initiatives such as the Certified Public-Safety Executive (CPE) Program, the Registered Public-Safety Leader Program and other courses that help public safety communications professionals obtain industry-recognized certification and reach new levels of expertise and excellence.

APCO President Stephen Martini expressed his appreciation for Motorola's continued commitment to the professional growth of emergency communications professionals, saying, "Motorola Solutions' support of APCO's scholarship program underscores a shared dedication to enhancing public safety through the continuous advancement of our workforce. With this grant, APCO can offer more opportunities to build on the skills, knowledge and leadership qualities needed to serve our communities effectively. We're grateful for the Foundation's ongoing partnership in this vital mission."

The scholarship application window opens on January 15, 2025. Funds awarded may be applied to APCO Institute training and professional development programs offered between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.
